Gaining Strength... personal work for organisational practitioners

An evening lecture and 2-day workshop 4th–6th December 2024
Paris

As organisational practitioners we don’t often have the opportunity to look systemically at how our own personal histories, process and patterns support – or limit – our success with clients. Yet when we deepen and integrate the systemic perspective, both we and our clients gain strength…

What is required that we gain strength and that our clients also benefit? Facing reality; acknowledging our limitations; accepting the ‘guilt’ that comes with growth, are just some of the unusual strength-giving ingredients that Constellations work suggests are vital. There are other elements too – called ‘The Orders of Helping’ in Constellations theory… Through these and other practices, we can feel something in us relax – and when the inner being comes to rest, we can manifest our true potential while serving our clients more fully.

In this evening lecture and related 2-day workshop, Ty will explore how we gain strength in our life and work. As well as describing The Orders of Helping in his evening lecture, he will work with real cases brought by you as participants, in the 2-day workshop. Here, the focus on ‘gaining strength’ will be brought to life experientially, through the medium of Constellations. A core element of this 2-day workshop will be for participants to do personal enquiry into those areas of their own lives and work, where they feel the need to gain strength.

 The Evening Lecture

Ty will describe The Orders of Helping and bring them to life through sharing stories of his own personal and organisational experience. He will also draw on some controversial aspects of Constellations theory to stimulate discussion and support new thinking. After the lecture there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions.

The Workshop

In this 2-day workshop, Ty will work with issues brought by participants, that bring to life the theme of Gaining Strength. As well as offering personal constellations, Ty will respond to questions about his own choices in facilitating these constellations, that will be supportive to those in the circle who want to deepen their own practice of Constellations.

Structure & Ethos

This will be an informal evening lecture, followed by a 2-day Constellations workshop. You can choose to come to the lecture alone, or the workshop, or both. Please note that the lecture and workshop will be in English with simultaneous French translation provided by Bill Walker and Lynne Burney.

The evening lecture will provide the theoretical framework for the theme of workshop, but will be presented in an engaging and accessible way. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions.

The workshop will focus on personal and professional issues brought by you, as participants. A commitment to confidentiality is therefore expected. Over the 2 days, Ty will work with as many participants as possible, and explore how the theme of 'Gaining Strength' can be brought alive through the personal and professional issues offered by the group.

Who should attend?

The lecture and workshop is for internal and external coaches, consultants, facilitators and 'change agents' as well as for managers within organisations. People from public and third sector organisations - as well as other organisations such as schools and universities - are particularly welcome. No previous experience of Constellations is necessary (although at least some familiarity with the work would be an advantage).
